About Me

Mrs. Mallorey (Rogers) Garrett is from small town Lynchburg, TN. She discovered her love for art when watching cartoons as a child. By watching cartoon characters, she was able to teach herself how to draw by distinguishing that all characters are made up of simple shapes. She graduated from Moore County High School in 2005 and enrolled in college at the University of Tennessee at Martin.

During her freshman drawing class, she realized she wanted to be a teacher and give many kids the opportunity to have a wonderful and positive experience with art. She graduated with her Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in the spring of 2009.

In August 2009, she landed her first teaching job as the art teacher at Perry County High School in Linden, TN. So she packed her bags and moved 2.5 hours away from home for her first teaching adventure! At Perry County, Mrs. Garrett not only expanded the art program by establishing and teaching the first advanced Art II class, she also sponsored Perry County's first Art Club. During her three years as a teacher there she also served as the FCA Huddle Coach, Class Sponsor, Dual Enrollment Facilitator and also Homebound Instructor. It was an INCREDIBLE first school experience and she bonded so tightly with her students.

In summer 2012, she got engaged to her college best friend and fellow art colleague, Matt. They moved to the greater Nashville area and she got her next job as the art teacher at Mt. Juliet Middle School where she served for a year. The school year of 2013-2014 she decided to take a break from teaching to focus on her career path and personal family matters. Which is why she was beyond thrilled to find out she got offered the additional art teacher position here at Overton High School in Nashville!

It's going to be a GREAT year!!!!
